It Begins With a Conversation
My goal in planning is to help you build on your strengths.
My approach to planning is to establish and maintain an open and ongoing communication with you. To best serve you, I strive to learn as much as I can about your financial and life goals. The process begins with a conversation. I will ask questions such as:
- How closely have you met your goals at this point in your life?
- What kind of life do you envision for yourself in the next five years? The next ten?
- What worries you?
- What provides you with a sense of strength or conviction from which to progress?
- What are your attitudes about money?
- What are your attitudes about risk?
The planning process is about helping you improve your life by creating a flexible and sturdy life plan that can serve as an enduring agenda for measured progress throughout your life.
Financial Check-Up or Formal Financial Plan
A plan usually takes one of two forms: a Financial Check-Up, or a Formal Financial Plan.
Financial Check-Up
The Financial Check-Up is an interview through which I learn about and review all of the specific elements
your financial life — from debt and cash flow to your estate plans. The goal of the Check-Up is
to identify and prioritize the work that needs to be done and to articulate a strategy for completing
it according to a specific timeline. Typically, the financial check-up can be completed in one or two
initial meetings, requiring less than three hours of your time.
Formal Financial Plan
The Formal Financial Plan provides you with an in-depth analysis of all of your assets as well as specific
and detailed projections for maximizing those assets. I will thoroughly examine risk-management and
multi-generational planning with you, and the document you receive at the conclusion of this process
provides a touchstone to be revisited and revised each year. The Formal Financial Plan typically entails
several client meetings over the course of two to four months.
Planning Isn't Just Financial Planning
To me, planning is not just financial planning. While it is certainly important to address your financial risks and opportunities, I can also assist you by offering creative ideas and suggestions that you may not have considered. Because of my experience and knowledge, and because I get to know you so closely, I am in a position to offer recommendations that uniquely match your needs and goals. For example, I might recommend you purchase an investment or vacation property; or I might be able to introduce you to a vendor who offers solutions to your niche business needs.
Whether the guidance I offer comes from our formal, objective analysis or from our ongoing informal communications through the course of our relationship, my aim is the same: to help you enrich your life through the discovery process of planning.
